# View-only Mode for Assistants

Restrict an assistant's access so it can view and read your project files without the ability to edit or delete them.

## Enable view-only access

1. Sign in and open [Connect your AI](https://pacpio.com/connect).
2. Locate the assistant under **Connected apps**.
3. Toggle off **Can save changes**.

That assistant can now search and read your project files and ask questions about your tables. It cannot save, edit, move, or delete anything. Other connected assistants remain unaffected.

## Use cases

- **Testing new models:** Safely try out new assistants without risking accidental changes to your prompts.
- **Workplace safety:** Allow an internal or shared assistant to follow company instructions without the ability to modify them.
- **Shared computers:** Prevent unauthorized edits when working from shared or public computers.

## Turn saving back on

Toggle **Can save changes** back on at any time. The change takes effect immediately on the next request—no reconnection required.
